Dry Eyes
During a long flight, many people experience some sort of eye irritation. Eye tissue is very fragile, and the low humidity of an aircraft cabin tends to dry it out.
What to Do
- Drink plenty of water.
- Make sure you have taken any contact lenses out; they'll be very painful to wear if your eyes begin to dry out.
- Keep your eyes closed for as long as possible, even if you are not asleep.
- Use lubricating eye drops.
- Avoid directing the air streams from the overhead ventilator straight at your face.
